furryboo, ow can we NOT be judgmental? She is 71 !!!!!! and you are old enough to clean up your own mess!Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
This is just so wrong- she's working to pay off your Pay day loans? Please don't allow her to take out a loan at her age. Its for you to rescue yourself.LBM Nov 10 owing £34,043 - (DMP with Stepchange)
Finally debt free 14/12/12:beer:0 -
If you have approached CCCS and they have been helpful then I'm sure they've told you not to borrow the money from elsewhere and told you the best way to deal with payday loans you are unable to make payments on.
That is to open a new bank account with a new bank and empty the existing one, and then to either write yourself to offer a repayment plan, or to let CCCS do it for you.
CCCS may or may not have told you but actually payday loans are often the first creditors to agree to accept a DMP and agree to freeze interest once they are unable to raid your bank account for money.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Ok, I have been to the CCCS who are very helpful. Can you all not be judemental and see that everyone circumsatnces are different!
Hlaf of my totla loans is in payday loans and half the loan that she may get will be used for that the other is for her to use for perosnal reasons.
She is going to try her bank but has anyone got any further suggestions please?
I'd be surprised if your 71 year old Mother got an unsecured loan for £7,500 from anywhere. By that age I would expect someone to have squirreled away several times what she's seeking. That she hasn't suggests she doesn't have much spare cash at the end of the month for loan repayments. Her age and previous adverse credit will also count against her.
I've never applied for a loan myself, but I think lenders ask what it's intended for. Answering paying off child's payday loans probably won't sit well with them.0 -
I can't believe you're willing to allow your mother to pay up to 19% interest on a loan to get you out of the hole you've dug yourself. It's not as though you're a teenager, looking for a bit of help from mum - you're supposed to be a grown up.
I read through your previous posts, when you were encouraged to put up your SOA so others could advise you better, but you obviously couldn't be bothered. Also, if CCCS are helping you, have you discussed this plan with them? I bet they wouldn't think much of it.0 -
This thread is unbelievable.
How could anyone do that to their 71 yr old mother.
What a sick person.0 -

Then help her look for a £3750 loan, then, if she has plans for herself, and forget about yourself. I don't mean that to be judgemental, but there are other ways of getting out of debt. Getting in more debt is never advisable, and getting someone else in debt is immoral.
Regardless of your mother's age (which just adds to the shock value, but isn't necessarily the key issue at hand), allowing someone else to get into debt for you, and to effectively take on your mistakes and your problems is not the best move.
Plus, you state that your debt comprises mostly of PDLs. Nice. It would be halfway understandable (though still objectionable) if you'd got in trouble with 'good' debt, the kind that ordinary people take on when times are good, and sadly can't pay when times are bad, but PDLs are the bottom of the borrowers' barrel.0 -

Ok so how are your circumsatnces different then ?
Yes i have 1, why not be responsible for your own debts and agree payment plans with the lenders.0 -
Oh this is so sad
How could someone even contemplate letting their poor old mum do this? If she needs money herself, let her ask her bank for a smaller loan for herself. Don't saddle the poor thing with your stupid payday loans too! Just too awful.... DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
