I applied for JSA, CTC and HB on 28th March by completing online forms, then had interview at jobcentre on the 30th. I have still not received a letter telling me what I am entitled to.

(Me - 25 - employed full time between sept09-sept2011 £23000 a year, contract ended in sept and not found more work yet.
Partner 31 - full time student receiving bursary, live together in rented flat)

How long does it typically take for a claim to be processed and for the first payment to be received?

Hi, I asked the very same question yesterday and was just going to post a reply.

I called the offices as I too had not heard anything and submitted my claim with all the relevant documents that they had requested nearly 4 weeks ago.

According to the lady I have just spoken to they sent my award notice out in the post yesterday. But the lady could tell me over the phone that my fist payment from them will be on the 23rd April, and this is backdated from 17th March.

HTH, but it may well depend on which council is dealing with your claims.
