Seems a bit extreme. Especially since everything else is running fine and the pop up doesn't seem to be doing anything, biesides annoying me.

boot in safe mode (tap f8 at startup)

then shutdown
if the error appears then its quite serious

if it doesn't then its being caused by a driver or application

No sign of it when on safe mode. And it's intermittent now when in normal mode.

start > run type "msconfig" (without quotes)
enter
on the startup tab uncheck everything then click ok

now enable them one by one until the error starts again, this may take a while
also note that your anti virus will be disabled until you check the entries for it again so be careful what you do while you are testing

Okay, done that (thankfully I only have 5 things starting up). No sign of the message error even when everything is enabled.
