Tax Credits Change ?

Does anyone know how long HMRC have to action a change which you have notified them of (a week before the actual change) before any subsequent overpayment becomes their fault not yours ? Thanks

Can you not just put the extra to one side and return it when they ask, a far a I understand it it's up to you to make sure you are getting the correct payment and they can recover the extra at anytime.

They have 30 days to action it from the date of change. It is in COP 26 (their guidance leaflet).

tori.k I know you have a responsibility to keep them informed of any changes which may affect your payments however it is THEM that have the responsibility to make sure your payments are correct

you normally get around a 28day run on when your child care costs decrease i.e she will still be entitled to the higher amount at the moment. The paperwork will generate at the end of the entitlement period. If she calls the helpline they should be able to tell her the appropriate dates.

As Jasper said - 28 day run on when childcare ends meaning you still get the payments from before the change for up to 4 weeks.

After the 4 weeks ends an award notice will be sent, usually takes 2 weeks.
