British gas default

Got great news today. They finally checked their system and did notice they never send an invoice or any reminders and will therefore remove the default. This will be done within 14 days and should therefore be fine for my mortgage application.

Good news indeed.

It is a good idea to check your Equifax and/or Experian credit reports for the removal prior to making the mortgage application. Keep the British Gas complaint "open" until you are satisfied. As you have found out, and many here know, you cannot rely on a telephone assurance.

Thanks Jalexa, that is a good point. At least I have an email confirmation though and asked for a contact in their debt department and for a confirmation by post also.

And my financial advisor did say he won't send the application before it is removed.

Still, not holding my breath whether it will all work out, but things are finally on the up. Told all my friends to check their credit status, I had no idea these things can happen ...
