What a terrible thing to happen. It makes me so angry to hear about those who prey on elderly, vulnerable people. It can affect their health (including mental health), wellbeing and happiness very badly. Hanging is too good for them.

Yesterday I sent an email to Consumerline NI who seem to deal with this type of scam. I will talk to my sister about talking to the PSNI, Not sure about Stephen Nolan though. She doesn't want to make too much fuss, even though she was furious too, but I will mention it.
Will read back through the posts after the kids have done their homework, and take up some of the other suggestions.

BTW, thanks to all of you for all the advice.

  • Rosie, thank you for posting this, it may well help prevent this man from taking advantage of some other vulnerable person. I do hope that you get this sorted and please post back and let us know how your dad is doing. Best of luck

You can go anon on Stephen Nolan - would be worth considering as he has a big audience. Hope your dad is ok, my thoughts are with you all x

I spoke to my sister who was happy for me to contact the PSNI. As advised here, I contacted the Community Support officer, who immediately said that they would do a leaflet drop in the area, with 2 objectives. To both send out a warning about this guy, and also to appeal to anyone else who may have come across him to come forward with any information which may help.
I have to say I was very impressed. They understand that we don't want Dad to be directly involved, but were happy to take it seriously and be very proactive.

Funny, I wondered that myself! No, he's terminally ill and honestly wouldn't be well enough.

Just a wee update. Sadly my Dad died very suddenly at the end of May but Mr Singh is still up to his old tricks!
Happily though, I have had phone calls from pensioners in the area who have refused to let him into the house. He did say he would be back before Christmas, but I will be on the phone again this week to remind them that this guy is not doing them a favour and they do not have to let him into their homes. Hopefully the word will continue to get around.
