Delete partition on external hard drive

Restarting computer made vanished hard drive re-appear. Both partitions had been empty. I put a photo in each and managed to merge them. Not sure if the restart or putting data on the drive helped. Thanks to everyone who helped.

The bad news is I'm only emptying the drive to back up a friends 100% full computer before removing Norton, running malware, de-fragging and installing antivirus.

Signature line was a realisation after dealing with two large organisations overloaded with incompetant staff. It's not aimed at anyone on here allthough it does fit sometimes. Thanks for the advice about the partition tool.
