Insurance claim after accident

Hi,
My Mother-in-Law was recently knocked over at a pedestrian crossing. Physically, she was battered and bruised and she did damage her glasses which at £600 are no small thing to replace.
The problem is, she has no idea - and nor do I - as to what to do about this. I realise that the TV is flooded with 'no win, no fee' adverts but I'm not sure that this is the correct course of action, or if it is, which company to use. She feels that it should not cost her anything to replace the damaged items when she was not at fault. Can anyone advise please?

She does need legal advice over this, and a no win no fee specialist PI solicitor is as good as anywhere to go - or if she has her own solicitor, then she may prefer talking there as a first step.
  • Do you have the insurance details of the motorist? If so, i would recommend contacting them. If you are just looking to recoup the cost of the glasses then it should be pretty straight forward, however if your mother in law wishes to pursue a claim for injuries, then I would consider using the services of a reputable law firm on a no win no fee basis. Unless you are satisfied with the offer of assistance from the insurance company, just remember though they have their best interests at heart not yours.

Most Solicitors will give your mum a free half hour initial interview.

Apart from that, does she have any legal cover with her house insurance at all.

Not sure if she has legal cover or not. If she does, and she uses this, would it not increase her premiums in the future?

Can you, or anyone else, recommend a company to use, please?
