I paid for the wrong vehicle by text. Is it worth making a formal appeal?

I made an informal representation, and presented the automated email confirmation from Westminster as evidence that I paid for a car in the space where I got the ticket, though it was the wrong car, and also one for the correct car, which was for a space around the corner, starting shrotly after the expiration of the first, and explained that it was an honest mistake etc. They turned it down, even though they appeared to accept my explanation, but said that they are still satisfied that the ticket was issued correctly.
Should I take it to the next stage, where the stakes will be double, as the initial 14-day reduced rate will no longer be available?
If any one has experience of appealing for this reason, any advice would be much appreciated.

Dave, interesting question, watch this space but if not already done, we advise people with local authority PCNs to join and put it up on pepidoo as well.
Bear in mind that councils pretty much invariably turn down the informal appeal (they don't like losing money!) but this sounds to me like a case where you should win on the PATAS adjudication. After all, presumably the car which you mistakenly paid for the first time has a record of having been paid for twice and Westminster should know this??
So, yes, the ticket was "issued" correctly- but when the truth comes out, should be cancelled.0 -

It's pepipoo (not pepidoo GTFA!):

Is this recent pepipoo thread yours, daveonmoneysavingexpert?

If not then it is relevant as it's the same error in Westminster...shame no result yet. You would need to start your own thread on there for help.
If that is your pepipoo thread you need to post again on it to show them the rejection letter and NTO. Pepipoo can help you but will not remember a thread until it's bumped with a reply each time a new letter arrives or advice is needed.
BTW I am SchoolRunMum on there and I posted a couple of useful links on that thread you should look at.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
