Hi,
i have a load of forms to fill in for housing benefit but before i waste my time and anyone elses lol got a couple of questions.
i know im better off than some and dont want to take the micky but im struggling like everyone else, bills all just get paid with no treats, fuel costs for us is £200 a month for my job, we have no spare money for emergency car repairs or even a nice holiday! we have no debts so getting by just,
so i thought i would apply for housing benefit ( i always thought i earned too much to qualify tbh)
i work 50 hours a week for £20,000 pa. My wife doesnt work, we have 2 children, 1's a toddler.
we rent our house at a cost of £650 a month, we do get tax credits but at the minute with it all changing we are waiting for our renewal so dont really know what we will get.
on our income and tax credits, do you think we have a too good income to apply?
or is it for people worse off than us, and on a very low income.

Use a benefit calculator to work out your entitlement - there is no cap per se, as the eligible amount will vary between areas.0

Put your details into the turn to us website (im new so cant post the link)
but they should give you a fairly accurate of what benefits you are entitled to0 -
thanks, my local council dont seem to have a calculator.
ok i will try and find that site.0 -
your council should have rates of local housing allowance, depending on the circumstances, number and age of children etc.
If she is in private rented she will only be entitled to the local housing allowance, not necessarily the rate of her rent0 -
hi, yes we rent private, i have used that site and found the rates on local council. it says we can get a £7 a week reduction in council tax, and £47 per week towards rent.
if this is correct it will help us alot, thanks everyone.0
