Harrassment by HSBC bank

My advice would be to contact them and pay the small outstanding debt off and feel lucky you are not dealing with some Pay day loan enterprise.
I can when they agreed to the instalment arrangement yet continue to contact us for full payment and refer us to a collection agency! We did not deliberately help ourselves with no intention of paying back! We used the overdraft through necessity with every intention of paying it back. More importantly we agreed a payment rate to pay it back. Not as lucky as some being in a position some times to pay back the full balance in one go!0 -
The OP says they ignored all correspondence from HSBC (including numerous phone calls) The OP says they have paid regularly but if they haven't made payments on time as per the agreement then maybe thats why HSBC are now demanding full repayment.
OP, you need to contact HSBC to see why the debt has been passed to a DCA, no-one on the forum can tell you that.0 -

They have been on time as we're paying via Direct Debit so no danger of missing a payment date there. They told us to ignore future correspondence though as they're automated letters.
We spoke to the umpteenth HSBC representative yesterday and they could see that we'd been paying but they didn't know why it was being transferred to a DCA. Hopefully their findings will stop further action by a DCA. My point of this thread was basically due to the way they've been contacting us repeatedly when we had been paying an arranged amount. Ignoring the letters as advised by them, wasn't the best advice by them I think.0 -
Can't see that.
What I can see doesn't support that assertion.
Correct. We ignored the letters as they said. We have spoken to them a few times on the phone since where they've initially asked for us to pay the amount, but we've reminded them of the arrangement we have in place to pay the £30 a month.0 -
