Steam Mop

I just bought (waiting for it) a Home tek Steam Mop the one thats advertised in the papers and on the shopping channels it looked too good to be without. Best price after shopping around is £43 84 including del (3/4 days) a saving of about £25, I will let you know if its any good.

Got the steam mop yesterday its a Home Tek De luxe Light n Easy, it is useless at cleaning anything in fact it leaves more marks than it picks up anyone thinking of buying one dont. It looks so good on the TV adverts what a con, if you look on ebay there are loads of them for sale with lots bidding for them, if only they knew.

If you look at what it does and that is (when the pad is dirty and wet which takes about 1 min) it rubs the dirty pad over your carpets/tiles etc, there is no suction that lifts the dirt out of the working area, its bound to fail, the pads are too expensive to change every few mins.

brazilianwax does yours create a lot of steam? mine does not

I bought one last year and agree that it was rubbish for carpet cleaning.

I, ahem.....unscrewed the base, loosened a couple of wires and returned it as faulty. Got a full refund without any bother - very quick too.;)

Not sure how morally acceptable that method is, but it was the only way I could think of in which to get my money back...:naughty:

Also, I recently bought a steam cleaner - Morphy Richards Grimebuster, for £50 and it is brilliant. Not really for carpets, although fine on small stained areas, but excellent for cleaning wall/floor tiles and laminate floors, windows, cookers, de-creasing curtains without having to remove them to iron, nooks and crannies etc etc. Dries much quicker than a mop too and much more hygienic.

Mine was from Tradex and although my local Notts branch has closed now I think they still have an online shop, and possibly Argos and various catalogues sell them too.

You can buy extra attachments such as an iron and wallpaper stripper too if ness. Mine came with loads of extra attachments, for various tasks and it's dead easy to set up and use.

    Well recommended IMO! :)
