Thanks for all the info guys. I went shirt and tie in the end and glad i did, although there were a few looking more casual. the tests were as u all predicted.

it certainly was! gchq @ gloucester. how did you get on? i didn't finish either of the first 2 tests. didn't have a watch and the clock was behind me so lost track of time. and the in tray thing was a b*tch, i listed everything but didn't write much in the boxes. i saw others scribbling loads down.
As for the personailty test, i lied completely! just second guessed most things. i.e. 'do you remember the last time you shook with rage?' my answer - no. truth - the night before when i missed my train due to dropping my passport down a drain in the big market in newcastle (lots of !!!!ed idiots walking past). once recoverd i had a sleepless night due to my friend being arrested and wanting me to come and collect him from the cop shop!! all this before a 6 hour train journey starting at 6am.

dont think i was meant for this job.

hehe you're not meant to lie on the personality tests - they can usually tell! I don't like the idea of dropping a passport in the big market though! hehe. no wonder your were angry!

Usually for numerical reasoning you don't finish so don't worry about that (although shockingly I actually finished a numerical test for the first time the other day). Verbal you quite often finish depending on the test - some are designed for you not to finish, but I generally find them easier than numerical.

In trays are always hard apparently so don't stress about that - I've not had one yet.

    Good luck with it anyway!

My friend has the GCHQ ones coming up at the end of the month!

I thought it was ok, but far from brilliant. I'm hoping their ideal candidate is someone who can't add :o - I did 27 of the maths questions, but I'm doubtful as to how many of those were right! I finished the verbal one but again not holding my breath. That in-tray thing was a beast!! 45 mins to get all that done was a joke.

Anyway, hope you had a better return journey and there was no more shaking with anger!

I had the exact same thought when I staggered back out to the car and then had to drive 2 hrs home tired beyond credible belief!
