BT Hub

Started the process of getting BTInternet as my ISP got sent all the stuff inc BT Wireless hub

BT screwed up & can't now activate my account until the EoM. My questions is how do I use the hub with my current ISP without loading the BT CD that came with it? Is there a site where I can get the drivers & an installation guide?

I think that the BT hub will only work with BT and not any other ISP.

No drivers need to be loaded or installed on your PC to use routers which are connected using Ethernet cable. Unfortunately you won't be able to use it with any other ISP as BT lock them to only use their network. You can download a user guide from here.

    BT HOME HUB
plug it all in you dont need the software, step 4 asks you to enter your details
    email address/password/phone number
I dont know if this will work with another provider but its worth a shot.
you only need to put the software on at the end which puts the bt yahoo icon brower on your desktop and norton internet suite,
its basically plug and play plug it all in wait 1 hour to make sure all the green lights are on and not blinking then after 1 hour plug it into your computer.
this is when you should put insert the cd. but its only for the software from bt broswer etc as the hub up-dates itself.
    hope this helps

Depending on how clued up you are / confident, you can telnet into the hub and change all the settings needed to get this to work with your current ISP, make sure you know what your doing or you could make what is already a useless piece of kit completely unusable though

    Cheers all

Connected up using ethernet it won't even dial out - hub data light & phone lights light on - tried the software & old ISP username & p/w didn't work.

The s/w took over my machine completely. Uninstalled the lot & re-gressed xp by one day.

So any help - telnet?? whats that & how do I do it

It would be more trouble than its worth if I knew what it all meant. Not a networking Engr but have a technical background but that stuff was vapour trails above my head

    Anyone got some simple remedies

I can - I'm being Scottish & want to use a free wireless router rather than buy one
