Just a quick update from me tonight before bed. Worn out from Beavers and then DH's friend and his girlfriend have been round tonight. We collectively watched Skint on channel 4. is all I can say!!
Hope everyone is well Xx
I was babysitting DGD with DS3 and he chose the viewing. All I could think was we really should appreciate how lucky we really are.
I have sent you a pm luckybusiness mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I was being flippant about 'Skint' I am sure it is heart rending in places.
I hope I didnt cause offence. Quite plainly I belong in Blackadder!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Lol Skint I actually found your flippancy very funny! I hadn't even thought that it could read like you were on the tv :rotfl:. indeed
. On a serious note though, the programme conjured lots of different emotions. The poor girl addicted to drugs and gambling who resorted to shop lifting and prostitution to feed her habit deserved sympathy and help. The 15 year old who hadn't been to school for 4 months needed his mouth washed out with soap for the way he spoke to his Mum and the family on benefits who had just had their 7th child were a very mixed bag! In one way I completely empathised as the guy had worked for 23 years before having to claim benefits and therefore all the nice things they had were probably bought and paid for previously. However, saying they have to resort to buying stolen goods because they don't get enough benefits whilst they are both sitting smoking around their 7 kids makes me . It's sterotypes like that who give benefit claimants a bad name.
(PLMBL climbs down off her soap box)
I agree with HAW my house feels like a soap opera, but personally I'm more suited to being on The Biggest Loser or Supersize Vs Superskinny :rotfl:.

Channel 4 when???????
My friend told me I remind her on Miranda!! :eek:Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Sarf Lahndarn? Bianca is great.
I love an accent - mine is pit yakker with a hint of Elswick. I want to be Barbara too! I am certainly no Margo. However I dont have the soft gentle cuddliness of Barbara. Im a little more spiky. If Barbara was a hedghog perhaps.
The thing is PLMBL, we can watch these things and take them in isolation but the fact remains people make choices in this country. we have a democracy and the freedom of the individual to claim money from the state in order to meet basic living needs.
If we look at the blog Brizzled mentioned (a girl named jack) and her challenges to use very little food to feed a family, we can see it can be done. I have bought an ex local authority house. 2 families in my street are getting Brighthouse deliveries regularly smoke and drink and cant even manage to cut their lawn never mind plant potatoes. They plead poverty and have a couple of takeaways delivered every week. They are choosing what to spend their money on - and are not lifting a finger. Now they can say they are skint, but they have a standard of living way above mine - as right now my chances of a new sofa and a takeaway are slim to none. (my fault because of the debt... )
However, I do feel sorry for them. As their quality of life is way below mine. I was someone on benefits, and I was skint. I went back to work once I got turned round. I never considered it a lifestyle choice, it was there to help me, it was a benefit - a support. I think that is the bottom line.
If no one else is Daphne in scooby doo, can I be her? I like the purple frock. xTrying to shift that debt!0 -
Fab post Skint! Totally agree that standard of living and quality of life are two very different things. Very profound and thought provoking. I'm lucky enough to have a high quality life, even if our standard of living is below the breadline!
You can deffo be Daphne. Looks wise I'm more Velma :rotfl: Or Shaggy :rotfl: Love the Bianca and Miranda too.
For those who aren't Geordies, Skint's pit yakker with a hint of Elswick might not make much sense. Let me assure you it's :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I have a funny accent. I lived in Berwick from when I was 2 until I was 12 and had a scottish twang. Then it merged with Geordie when we moved back to Newcastle and then the poshness crept in when I was a Bank Manager. Nowadays though I suppose I'm more Geordie Shore than Mrs Bucket! :rotfl: thanks for clearing that up plmbl I wasn't sure what pik yakker was  :rotfl: I'll just assume it's funny sounding
I hate my accent I get it worse when screaming at kids, husband, anyone else and when drunk. At all other times I try and cover it up! So common
just like me I guess :rotfl:
