hi i need a ball park figure for the following work. its in the north west.
Having had a structural engineer inspect our home, the gable wall is just a 'standing wall' and not really attached to the house very well. It is a design fault the stairs run up the inside of that wall. The wall is bulging out at the weakest point (in between the landing window and the side door underneath) and has caused a crack. The builders who 'repaired it' did not understand the true cause and therefore haven't done a true repair.
What needs to happen is as follows:
The bricks around the crack need to be removed and replaced/remortared sans crack; there needs to be stitching rods inserted amongst the bricks to prevent re-cracking.
Helical reinforcement rods need to be inserted into the house at the 1st floor level right into the joists. This means ripping up floor boards in the little bedroom and bathroom.
Reinforcement to the corner of our house where they extended the kitchen by about 2 feet with the addition of the bay windows. Digging a hole and cementing a stack of bricks underneath the corner, basically.
Repointing all exposed exterior brickwork.
many thanks
