Backdating Housing Benefit

Hi All
I would like some advice on Housing Benefit please.
I lost my job on March 27th. We were in the process of moving house at the time and our local council (in east yorkshire) told us we were entitled to HB and council tax help but we have been waiting for our new landlord to give us our new tenancy agreement. The council could not process our claim until we had this. He gave us it today. Can we back date our claim from the 27th March as we had to wait for our new landlord to send us our tenancy paperwork?

Thanks all

The claim starts the Monday after they first got your application whether it was complete or waiting for more information.

If your application was submitted the prior week then it's all automatic you don't need to do anything.
