Do ESA ever negotiate mileage? There are two jobs around 25 miles from me that are due immediately. I wondered if it was worth calling them in the morning to see if they'd add a bit to the fees.

Don't want to if it's frowned upon though.

Personally I've always found them a bit rubbish when it comes to this, and they are notorious for taking the pee somewhat and offering an extra £1 or £2 for a 100 mile round trip etc.
But, I wouldn't say it is frowned upon to offer to do the job at the rate you would accept, and see what they say. It will depend how urgent/important it is to them to get the visit covered.
    Best of luck :)

No harm in asking. They always said no to me, but the last 3 times I asked, I got £5 mileage on each one. There is a guy who works at ESA who sounds like he is "high", he always allows me the extra. ;)

I do several assignments for ESA but they are the only company I have removed my telephone details from as I was fed up being rung and asked to do assignments where the cost of fuel getting there would be more than the fee!

I get dragged off to the RVI on a wild goose chase for a non-existant blood clot in the daughters lung and I miss all the fun cause Vodafone have knackered the internet on my phone. I'm unimpressed. Didnt even get a chance to poke the idiot, think MSE have banned him yet?

I do get where he was coming from initially, we do a lot of that kind of work where I work and the pay is just for interviewing. We do the data entry in house and have the paper copies to check for discrepencies. But my god.

Mind you, given DPJ and MTG are now on speaking terms I think were all doomed.

Also, managed to get MF to add 50% of the reimbursement on as a fee to cover 2 of those bookies jobs which are within 5 minutes of where I work so I'm a happy camper, just need a couple of low odds doubles to call and walk away with my winnings. Would have killed me but Ireland to loose both times would have been a given :(

Hows everyone elses weekend been, with or without the entertainment.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Well my wife bought me a new phone for Fathers Day. A Blackberry, my first smartphone :)

So I've been busy trying to figure it all out since yesterday afternoon. It's pretty awesome, and it's like a proper little mystery shopping tool. Camera, dictaphone, satnav, street maps, emails. Everything except a stopwatch.

For the footy NIM, I'd go 3-1 to Spain, versus Croatia. And a 1-1 for Ireland, Italy. A correct score double is pretty much impossible. But good luck fella.

Must dash. The sun is shining so I'm gonna risk putting the washing out.

Thanks for the advice everyone. My friend came to visit last night so I didn't get a chance to update. One of the jobs I was after with ESA has gone and it's not worth the trip for just one of them so I'll not bother. No doubt I'll get a call later asking me to do it so if they pay full mileage costs :D I'll squeeze it in. I have a whole week off work and not one MS job lined up - may need to get scavenging!
