Quick question for you guys. Say for example, one does a couple of visits where one has to purchase something (clothes/electrical items etc etc) and one is given a £5/£10/£15 reimbursement. If it does not specifically say one must keep the item would one be allowed to take it back and then just add the reimbursement value to the fee for tax purposes?

Don't see why not if it doesn't specify.

Just what I wanted to here. I can rid myself of all the batteries and tops and shirts and what not I have had to purchase over the last 3 weeks. Even got some posh flip flops 2 weeks ago but as Summer has been and gone, they might as well go back!

When you take it back this will be ammended on your receipt surely? And it will show that you got a £5 reimbursement, but then gained £5 taking it back, therefore a £5 profit? No? Am I reading this wrong? Surely this cancels out the reimbursement then as the tax man sees that you have infact returned the item and pocketed a fiver?

I imagine the scanned receipt does not have the refund on it so the tax man doesn't see the refund if an audit was ever undertaken. I wouldn't take things back though as the MS company may look up the reference number on the receipt and find it has been refunded.

If I have a mystery shop which is regular, say once a quarter, I have been known to take things back without the receipt and to accept a credit note. I then use the credit note on the next mystery shop.

This works well one store where I have to buy some food items as well as a clothing item. I take the clothing item back, get a credit note and then use it when buying the food items I have to buy the next time I shop there.

I don't think this could be traced.

I'm totally confused. I called IMS yesterday and asked about the cheap European supermarket, I was told that these were no longer being by shopped by them and just to ignore them. But I have had 2 emails today saying I can print the paperwork and can do the visits now.

Am I meant to do them or not?
