Virgin Super Hub to Netgear WGR614 as wireless access point

I have Virgin broadband connected to a Super Hub. I also have Sky TV and wanted to connect the Super Hub to the Sky box but they are in different rooms.
I retained the old virgin netgear WGR614 router when I was upgraded to the Super Hub. I was hoping to use that as a wireless access point for the sky box
To be honest I DON'T know what I am doing and just following instructions I found on the internet!
The Super Hub had:
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Starting IP: 192.168.0.2
Ending IP: 192.168.0.254
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
The Netgear router:
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
I connected via ethernet cable to the Netgear router and changed the IP address to 192.168.1.3 (as I read it need to be in the same subset, but outside the range???). I also turned off the DCHP server on the Netgear router (as instructed). I copied the SSID and wireless password from the Super Hub to the wireless settings of the Netgear router. The new settings saved properly and I was able to access the Netgear router at 192.168.1.3
Here's where I get lost!
It said to connect the two routers together via ethernet cable. But I got lost as to whether I am supposed to connect the computer to the Super Hub or Netgear router as well????
I couldn't work out what else I need to do so tried connecting the Netgear router with the new settings to the computer - I expected for the Netgear router to connect to the Super Hub wirelessly and the internet to come through the ethernet cable to the computer (or sky box when I connect it)????
What steps have I missed out? Do I need to assign a static IP address to the Netgear router maybe?
Thanks for your help!
