School appeals - help offered

Happy sad - it's sounds that you would have sufficient evidence to support your change of address. As I have already said once your child is in the school, you can move to where you like and he will still have the place.
Ms Chocoholic - In the seveb years that I have been involved with admissions it has been the same but Idon't know what the legal position was before then. I would have thought though the basic prinicpals were still the same.0 -
Hayley - I think I have finally finished putting together my appeal statement. If I can figure out how to send it to you, would you have time to check it for me please?Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0

Christmasshopper - if you want to PM me with your statement I'll look at it tomorrow. That's what someelse did - they did have to break it down into chucks though as they couldn;t get it all in one PM.0

HayleyjG you are really good to do this checking the appeals for Christmasshopper and SomeElse......“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

Hayley- I have had several attempts at PMing my appeal to you and each time my computer comes up with a message that the programme failed to respond.
It is a Microsoft Works Word Processor document. It won't even let me save it as a rtf file or copy it into an email. I was going to email it directly to the Admissions Service, but as it won't let me, I am going to print it and take it there myself. I don't want to trust it to the post over Easter incase there are delays. My deadline is 12th April.
Unless you are able to open a Microsoft Works Word Processor document sent as an email attachment, I am afraid I won't be able to send it to you in time. Please PM me if you can open this type of attachment.
However, even if you can't check it for me, I would like to thank you for all your help. I feel as though your advice has enabled me to make a strong appeal.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
Hi Hayley, Thank you, and everyone else for their responses on this thread, re my earlier posts. We have decided to keep my son at the school he has been offered, as feel the Appeals structure, would be too stressful for him, at an important time in his education (SAT's). So he will be commuting (!!) - hopefully he will come to the decision that he is ready to move on - before he is ready to leave education per se!
All the best to the rest of you. I would be lost without these boards!
<~~~~ still no kitten though :-(Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

It may be that this forum wont allow attachments, could you go into your appeal, right click, select all, copy and then paste into a PM rather than sending as an attachment?

Good luck!
I sent my appeal to Haley and had to copy and paste into PM. The limit is 500 words per PM so be prepared to copy and paste a couple of times at least.
Hope that helps.Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get0 -
Hayley - I have taken my appeal to the County Council office today. There is nothing more I can do to add to my statement now, so it is time to start preparing for the hearing.
I am struggling to understand the rules on admission numbers. Our chosen school is a school for 480 pupils. Supposedly, 4 year group with 120 pupils in each year, split into 4 classes of 30 pupils. However, the school only have 457 pupils with 106 pupils due to leave in July. They are going to admit 120 pupils in September. By my reckoning the school will have 9 pupils short of its capacity. Is this fact any use to my appeal or does the fact that they have offered 120 places in the lower year mean that they can only fill the 9 extra places with older pupils?Fool me once, shame on you. Hello Hayley... please take you time with responding to my request (deal with Christmasshopper 1st)
My question is.. If I decide not to move much closer than the 1 mile I am to the school and I state about my condition (Bi-Polar) and that I see this school as meeting my son's needs as stated before for structure and a school that prorities healthly living. Would the admission say "Well there are 2-3 other schools closer that meet that needs so her son would therefore be allocated to one of those schools" So there would not admit my son to this more popular school that has a strong focus on structure & health beacuse they feel that this can easily be meet by other schools that are much clothes to where I currently live. And there for because this school that I am tooking for is over subscribed my son would not get a place and instead get a place offered in a closer school.....
Thanks (((Sorry my formating for MSE does not work for some unknown reason)))“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson
