Just wondered if you can help my DD has been gived her 2nd choice of school which is about 2 miles away, the school we wanted her to get into she already goes to nursery at, she is a lovely child but as the nursery teacher said at parents evening 'sometimes she makes you work hard for your money', She has really blossomed at this nursery and i think it will have a negative affect moving her. I just dont really know where to start i've phoned and asked for a appeal form and asked to be put on the waiting list for the school which i'm apparently automatically put on.
Do you know how the waiting list is done ie alphabetically or by age??
Also i have my nearly 3yo starting nursery at the school nursery in septamber will this go more in my favour?
I'm not choosing the school for the academic score as it only a little bit better than another one and academically way below the one i've been offered but i want her to go to the school as she is happy and i love the head teachers and the general feeling of the school.Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts0 -

Round my way the waiting list is done by distance. Children nearest the school get priority. If anyone moves into the area between now and the start of the school year and they want a place, if they live nearer than you then they will jump over you on the list.
That's only in my are (Hertfordshire). Best thing is to ask the school how it works and see where you are on the list. Families tend to move around a lot when children are this age so if you are very near the top of the list you may stand a chance. I'm sure the school will tell you straight if you ask. Hi, I have a question. If class sizes at a particular school are, say 30 children, do they allocate each and every single place, or do they leave some vacant for the appeals???
Also, do they try to balance the girls and boys ratio?
Many thanks0 -

I asked my son teacher this today. He said he had no idea how they come to some of their decisions. It would be nice to know. Good question.
It's like my friends son lives 2 mins walk from our allocated school but got the school that my son wanted which is 1.5 miles awayJust how they came to that decision, I don't know

Found out last week that we were 6th on the waiting list but today were 9th i was told that some parents forgot to send back their preference forms so are added to the list and if they live closer they go ahead of me.
This seems so unfair if they get a school their not happy with why should they go ahead of all the 10000 that made the effort to look at the schools and send the form back.Number 4 due 21st jan0 -
Hi there, I've received one out of 2 appeals forms and just wanted some advice.
The form states it must be exceptional circumstances why you are appealing and you cannot appeal because of single sex education or religious grounds. Academic, sporting or social records do not form part of the criteria and cannot be used as grounds for either admissions or appeals.
Can anyone tell me what I could write? I've got 14 days to come up with something."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
What is your reason for appealing?Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get0
