    Mortgage-free Glee!
Is there anything else I can do or do I now have to sit and wait?

Start and go to church, as denominational schools look favourably upon commitment to a church, even if it is non-catholic.

hello I am about to go to appeal meeting with regards to my daughter trying to get a place at her 1st preferred school, all of the children are transferring to the same school and my daughter was the only child in the school not to get a place due to being out of the area and the school being over subscribed we did not get a place on review so we are going to the panel our grounds are that my daughter is totally devastated and I feel that her excellent school record will suffer and it will have a detemental effect on her I have a letter off my gp and I wondered is there anything else I could do to help our chances ?

hello, we were wondering if you have any knowledge / advice regarding multiple exclusions for our 15 year old son.

we are currently in the middle of hopefully getting a long overdue diagnosis for some mental health issues he has faced for many years.

will this have some bearing on any punishment the school can give in the future? ie. would any 'illness' making him behave this way be taken into account? and would this be noted on his permanent records?

hope this is something you feel comfortable advising about.

    many thanks

The book Hayley recommended is called How To Win Your School Appeal by Ben Rooney. https://www.dvd.co.uk have it for £6.10 including delivery. When I ordered my copy, it came within about 4 days. It has definitely been worth every penny. It is full of useful advise and tips on how to win your appeal, and even has sample letters to give you some ideas for what to write when you appeal.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D

The book Hayley recommended gives the following advice (my words not Ben Rooney's, but you'll get the idea):
Children are expected to make new friends when they go to a new school, so going to a different school to her friends isn't good grounds for an appeal. However, if you can show that your child will be excluded from the community by going to a different school then this would be a valid reason to appeal.
Also, remember you are appealing for your prefered school not against the school you have been offered.

I am so pleased for you - you must be well chuffed!! Well done. I know what a nerve racking experience it is for parents to appeal. I bet you're glad it's all over at last. Best of luck to your daughter at her new school.
