Help with moving costs

Hi there, just after a bit of advice please

Been renting a private accom for 3 yrs thought i would be here for life, LL great etc but he has hit a bad time for whatever reason and now has to sell the property im living in.

I am waiting for my section 21 to come through and have picked up a form from the council regarding going on the housing list in case i cannot find anything private in the notice period i have given,

i found out on Friday about the sale and it is already on websites so have been viewing properties which are suitable for me and my daughter. One of the problems i have is the deposit, a lot want a month and a half or 2 and then all the fees that are involved, someone mentioned that the council may be able to help me with a rental deposit rather than house me, does anyone know anything about this please?

Many Thanks

Yes they would pay the deposit and you give them it back. But not all councils do this. You still need to pay the months rent up front though also

I have never heard of this!

What I know about is the Rent Deposit Scheme where the council guarantees your deposit. No money changes hands. The council is guaranteeing the landlord that if any damage is done then the council will pay the cost.

Not all councils do it but it's worth asking.

Our council, for instance, only provide this scheme to people on income related benefits - JSA, ESA, IS and PC.

Can't you use the deposit that you'll get back from your current rental property?

Timing wise, this rarely can happen.

Typically, a deposit from a current property is only given back after a person has moved out and the deposit and first month's rent on the next place must be paid before the keys are handed over. The new deposit is paid before the old one is given back.
