Help with international calls
Hi everyone
I hope someone can help
My dad lives in Ireland (Co Kerry) and it is costing me a fortune to call him as he only has a mobile number. Lasy month only spoke to him 4 times and cost me nearly £60. I have tried landline (sky) and mobile (vodaphone) both as bad as each other. I tried downloading skype onto my mobile (blackberry) and it wont load saying I need a telkomsel sim???
I have skype on my laptop but just waiting to get e=webcam and microphone fixed so I can use
Can anyone give me any suggestions on any low cost or free ways to chat with my dad please
Any help gratefully recieved
Woody xx

Hey Woody
One alternative would be to buy a callingcard. If you're calling a landline in Ireland then a Tesco callingcard charges 1p/min plus a 4p connection charge, and the credit is taken off of the card rather than added to your phone bill (providing you have inclusive calls).
Clicking here will take you directly to the Tesco calling card page. You can pick these up in your local store.

I'm not sure if this will help, but you could get a free O2 Ireland SIM and receive calls on an Irish 086 (+353 86) number for free while logged on to O2 UK. You need to opt in to a free travel rates option for free incoming roaming calls. Ordering the SIM to a UK address is easy. If your father has inclusive minutes to call other Irish mobile numbers, he can then use them to phone you in the UK. You can also get a Three Ireland SIM quite easily too, but Meteor and Vodafone Ireland are slightly more difficult.0

With very little effort 1 minute will cost you 7-8p. £60 will give you about 12 hours of talking.0
