Case Virgin wine-egg-£39.99

I've just had an e-mail from egg offering 12 bottles of wine (6 red and 6 white) for £39.99 + free delivery. With the 10% egg cashback discount, it works out at £2.99 per bottle. Apparently, the case is supposed to be £70.

I think it will go quick but here's the link...

Edited to remove link as it included my details - oops!

Thanks to super_reds for letting my know...

I had the same email, just came on here to check if anyone had posted :p

It certainly looks worth a punt at £2.99 a bottle, rioja and chilean sauvignon, favourable reviews of both, rude not to really I thought! ;)

You need to go through the egg site to actually get to the egg case, that link above is a general 50% off and isn't the free delivery ones.

I've had Virgin wines before and was not impressed..... And I'm no wine buff.

Although no expert, I would say I know my gewurtztraminers from my pinot grigios! I've had wine from Virgin before and it was fine. It wasn't as good as wine from Laithwaites, but it wasn't bad, certainly ok for quaffing. Obviously it depends on what you order - sometimes the mixed cases they do are a bit suspect - like they might be getting rid of the stuff that doesn't sell well. I've ordered a case of this egg deal wine, so in the name of research I will try them and report back.

  • for chrissakes jeppy - how cheap do you want it/how cheap are you?

£39.99 less 10% on the egg card is a pretty damn fine deal as it is.

Just my twopenneth, but I got a refund on two bottles of the sauvignon as it was garbage - definitely tainted and both bottles went down the sink. Seems to have had good reviews from others on the site though...

oh dear - how easy was it to get a refund? Was the problem that the 2 bottles were corked and the other 4 were ok?

I didn't have the case of six, just two bottles in a mixed case I ordered. I thought the first was corked (cant remember if it was screwtop or not), but the second was just as bad.

Refunds are simple - call them up and they'll credit you the price straight back. If you've bought a case they'll arrange to come and pick up the rest of the case.

Virgin are a strange company - their customer service is great provided you call them and speak in person. Don't use their email as they have a glitch in the system which means some won't get through. I think their wine is overpriced compared to the supermarkets, but if you take them up on deals or use vouchers then it can be a good deal.
