NPower Price Hike on Contract Renewal +52.9% on Electric
I am just raising this thread as a warning to anyone coming off GoFix5 tariff to the GoFix tariff as they have shown me 52.9% increase on electricity, and 11% increase on Gas. We are changing, we are very low users as spend much time away from the UK home, my current usage for the last 12 months at the previous tariff was £340, at the new rates £840.
Currently I am fuming, not because of myself, but last year my nephew and wife and 2 kids, changed over after I did a comparison for them, as they were not previously on DD. They have agreed to continue not realising how much their electric will go up. Not everyone has the mathematical skills to work out as I did, they will be well and truly up the creek without a paddle.

Like you my Gofix 5 is coming to an end they indicate until I make up my mind they say they will put me on Go Save similar to standard but for online use I won't though i'll just change to Go Fix 11 onthe last day Go FIx 5 ends [Go Fix 11comes top on comparison sites] .So what you should do is to on Go Fix 11 on your last day of the go fix5. Go Fix 11 is the best on the comparison sites and does not cost much more than your Go Fix 5 so this should suit you and family I would be happy with GoFix11 this finishes 21st May 2013 only hope its available on my last day So for you all is not too bad and for me [like you will get] in my case 2weeks later end of my term I receive my £100 straight into the bank for having paid in 12 direct monthly direct debits with nPower Cheers0 -
Hi All - In similar position am a dual fuel customer with NPower coming to the end of Go Fix 5 tariff which ends 31st May. I've used the comparision sites and am dismayed to find all of the deals out there now are MORE EXPENSIVE by at least £104 per year. I'm drawn towards Scot Power Fixed price until 2014 as it will allow us to budget properly. This as my guess is energy prices are only going in one direction long term whether ConDem rant and rave about forcing the big six to offer us their best deal. The only fly in the ointment is the rumours around the Which? Big Switch and Energyline Huge Switch collective buying - So which is best the certainty of a fixed price until 2014 or collective buying (negotiating)? AND whilst I'm on the subject of comparison sites for energy - does anyone really understand the calculation from meter units to kWh? To me I want a straight price per unit then I know there's no smoke and mirrors when the bill comes in. All those who agree say Yes!!0

Thanks for that George, I did call them up, but they offered nothing, even though I told them I would not be staying.
I will certainly get my nephew and wife to make sure they got moved to Fix & Go 11.
I did a spreadsheet on my small usage, which worked at at £341 this year and £838 for the same amount at the new rates:eek:

We too are due to change come 31st May. they did offer us GO FIX 11, but this expired at the weekend, and it also has a standing charge, something i swore I would never have again after being caught out by that kind of tariff a few years back.
I want to pay for what i use, and not pay massive standing charges, but when i called Npower they don't seem to have any tariff that is SC free.
We are low users, paying on average £420 a year for gas and electric. Will probably have to wait till the last minute to swap.0 -
. Just to clarify, the duel fuel discount does not go straight into your bank. It is credited against your bill. If it puts you in a position whereby you have credit, then this can be refunded.
Secondly, when a tariff ENDS it defaults to go save, a standard rate. This is higher because you were previously on a discounted rate to it. So the percentage difference is not a price increase, its a change of tariff. If your on a variable rate and a price increase happens, this tends reflect the price increase percentage announced as appose to a change of tariff percentage difference.
Due to more regulations, tariffs are becoming less. I disagree, i want to have a choice of a variable, fixed, capped, onlone etc tariff. Rather than a limited amount. Governments making it worse. All that should change is lower prices. Not less tariffs. If your stupid enough to not look at different tariffs then you deserve to be charged a higher rate.
Also. When a tariff ends suppliers cannot change you automatically to the cheapest product because you have to agree to the terms. You would not like it if they change you to the cheapest rate that ties you in for a year with £60 exit fee and then you move abroad because you will be charged the fee. So it is to be discussed before changed.0
