EON energy monitor on MAC
Has anyone managed to get the EON software installed on a Mac? I found a reference on the EON website that says:
Can I use this software on my Mac without a Windows application?
No. In order to run the software on the Mac you need to ensure that you have a Windows application. To run Windows applications, you'll need to have your own copy of either Windows XP or Windows Vista additional software and a Mac with an Intel processor running Mac OS X v10.4.6 or higher. Virtually all new Macs qualify for this, but older Macs may not. If in doubt please check your system profile.
What it does not tell you is that you need a piece of s/w called Parallels which costs £65 plus the cost of a copy of Windows XP, i guess another £130, so looks like Mac users are worse off with EON than those with Windows PC's. Or have i mis-understood?

Yes you have. Mac comes with bootcamp that allows windows to be loaded in a separate partion. On boot up you can choose to load up in one or the other. It's like two separate machines. If you use a virtual or cloud drive you can still share files between them but not if they are on your own hard drive.

Hi MoneyMad
It’s true that our EnergyFit software doesn’t work on a Mac unless you can install a copy of Windows. I’m sorry that we seem to have overlooked our energy savvy customers that are Mac users.
I can just about find my way around my PC but have spoken to our web team to see if they can help. They also suggested Parallels (which allows you to run Windows and Mac OS at the same time), it is at your own cost though.
As ivorsgirl mentioned, Bootcamp is free and allows you to install a copy of Windows. Then when you first turn on your Mac you’ll see a screen asking you if you want to boot in to Mac or Windows and you can choose which one. If you choose Windows it’ll boot up exactly like any other Windows computer and you can then use it to install the E.ON software.
Alternatively you can try http://www.currentcost.com/software-downloads.html and install the ‘Mac drivers’ on that page. That’ll then allow you to connect your Mac to the energy monitor. From there you’d need to find a piece of software to download which’ll let you produce graphs using the figures from the monitor.
There is a piece of software at http://www.currentcost.com/software-mountainrose.html which works in a similar way to our own Windows software. It’s a time-limited demo so you can give it a try but you’d need to pay after the first 6 months.
I hope this is helpful. As always we send a report back to our management team and I’ll make sure that your comments are included in an effort to improve this service.

How does the monitor connect to the PC?
USB I presume?
If you have a legit copy of Windows XP etc, you may very well be able to run it in VirtualBox for Mac
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
The downloadable extension pack allows you to interface with the host computers USB ports as if they were the virtual Windows computer's own. You would then install the windows software driver on your virtual version of XP etc.
May work. May not. And not really an ideal way to run it.
But Virtualbox is free, so not going to cost for software on top of Windows to try.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

There are a number of free Windows VM packages (this is what Parralells is) for the Mac which may enable you to run it.0
