Lost Windows Media Player

Shortly after I bought my Dell laptop last year I somehow "lost" Media Player. I'm not sure what happened. Now I would like to get it back. Is it still likely to be there somewhere waiting to be activated or do I need to install it again?

I've got the disk for Windows 7 Home Premium but I don't want to reinstall everything because of the backing up and reloading programs hassle so might it be possible just to reinstall Windows Media Player? If so I'd be gratful for simple instructions how to do this as I'm not really into computers. Many thanks.

Is media player not under start then all programs ?

You can just download media player (use google) or you can just download an alternative like vlc.

I agree with DCFC79. VLC Media Player here is far superior to Windows media player.

if you've just lost the shortcut / menu item for it you can make a new shortcut, point it to wmplayer.exe

If that doesn't work you need to find where wmplayer.exe is on your PC, on mine it's in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
