When you are buying a house and wish to have a full structural survey done, can this be arranged by the lender, or should you seek out a surveyor yourself?

Having experience recent problems (as in my post ' the wrong survey') I would thoroughly recommend getting this done with your own surveyor!0

generally you source a surveyor for a full structural survey yourself. for a homebuyer's report it is usual to use the mortgage valuer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You can source your own surveyor for either a full structural survey or a homebuyers - just make sure they are RICS registered. If you phone the RICS 0870 333 1600 they can give you names of surveyors in your area.0
