I recently sold some tickets (2 weeks ago) for an event in this guys home town he paid via paypal, and i sent the tickets out that day via recorded post. 2 days later i checked the royal mail webiste and they had been signed for at the address i sent them too.
2 weeks later the guy says nothing has been received, how do i stand i think something is dodgy going on why wait 2 weeks to find out if something was posted to you. i question anything not received after a week and always send out stuff straight away if paid via paypal
thanks for your help on this matter.
i no longer have the recorded slip as after i checked on the website they had been signed for i threw it away

Not too sure what you can do as you no longer have the postage slip.Although they had been signed for they might not have been signed for by the buyer , my postie just signs the stuff himself and he is not the only postman to do so. Or they could have been given to a neighbour etc and just put through as been signed for at the address. If you had the slip royal mail could have investigated it futher.
The only two things I could suggest is cancel the tickets if that is possible or to bluff him that you do have the recorded slip and will start an investigation with royal mail as they have a signature at his address. I did this once and the buyer backed down. Maybe some of the others will have advice .0 -

Change your t&c to include "non delivery MUST be reported within "x"-days of posting notification being sent"i no longer have the recorded slip as after i checked on the website they had been signed for i threw it away
I don't think there's much you can do, except look through the cookies on your computer, incase it's there in the RM list.0 -
As the buyer paid by paypal he can make a claim against you, unless you can supply the tracking number and prove delivery his claim will succeed. Paypal will withdraw funds from your paypal account and refund the buyer.
I have had a couple of buyers claim non delivery ages after I've sent the item, it is very odd why people don't say something earlier but maybe they are just used to having dodgy post or something. I'm waiting on a parcel at the moment, sent last week and only yesterday got in touch with the seller just to confirm it was actually sent when he says it was.
One tip for people paying by paypal is that you can enter the tracking details in on the paypal page and you then always have a note in case you lose the original slip.
Personally I keep everything for about 6 months just in case of later chargebacks. I had a drawer stuffed with COPs and recorded delivery slips.

What if there's no funds in the seller's account, how does the buyer stand then?0

That's when it gets complicated. Depending on how the account is set up there are circumstances where the money can be drawn from a linked card, but more usually the paypal account is just frozen so that the next lot of funds going in will be used to repay the original buyer.
The seller cannot close the paypal account and they can't use it anymore which is a problem if they intend staying on ebay.

Surely there will be a record at the post office you went to perhaps visit and see wht they say, the Royal mail surely should have a record of this?
I agree with Cat ...try and bluff them by saying you will check with the recorded slip etc.... I have done this before and it has worked! one thing is that he really may not have recieved them, I don't think many people will lie if they have signed for something! unless they signed it "Mickey Mouse"

try going back to royal mail and try typing in the first letter , i think its normally 'D'.
this has happened to me before and on the off chance I went to the check recorded delivery page and tried this just to see if autocomplete would remeber it and it did!
then i wrote down the number and checked it for info, ie the right address, then at least you'd have something!0 -
