Road angel 2

Hi

I've been thinking about buying this camera detector for quite a while now. The normal price is £400 and Argos have just knocked £70 off the price which is what reignited my interest.

I have only ever bought one item off ebay which i think was less than £20.

I have seen the road angel for sale for £200ish. How can this be? How do I know it's cosure?

Sorry, just a little aprehensive as I am used to buying all my shopping form reputable stores.

many thanks

    Hi Gambler

I heard recently that the government are going to make camera detectors illegal by the end of this year - which means no one can use them, which will mean no one will buy them, which means manufacturers are trying to flog them now before it's too late. Just a word of warning! It would be a real shame to pay all that money for something and then not be allowed to use it.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)

Best way to check things are first look at the sellers rating then look at the percentage of positive feedback, look to be buying from someone who has a history of selling these items and read a good few pages of thier feedback to try and get a better understanding, i would advise looking for someone who does take paypal as if anything goes wrong you may have some comeback. Read and re read the auction thoughly. These are the main steps i take before buying anything from ebay.

    Anything ive missed? - YES

Make sure it is the item you are bidding on and not one of those stupid pyramid links that are about.

No sorry JPS its radar/camera detectors that they are going to ban.

Road Angel is a GPS system which warns of traffic hazards and they are ok for now.

If you do buy remember you have a subscription service to get the updates and that can be pricey.

Thanks for the advice. I have a £10 voucher for Argos so that's down to £320. By the time you take postage into account I'd probably be best buying from there.

The items I was looking at last night have now increased to nearer the £300 mark and all by private bids - wonder if this is the seller !!

Just realised what you don't get with the ebay items - a warranty.

very important when spending this kind of money so I think I will go to Argos.

Given the closeness of the general election, there is no chance of the (so-called) Road Safety Act making it into legislation in the near future, so it will be some time before radar and laser detectors are made illegal.

By which time the technology will have moved on (already the inductive loops used by Truvelos and ANPR used by Specs cannot be detected by radar or laser detectors.)
