Hiya :-)
Just got a TP-LINK WR1043NB wireless n gigabit router, but can't set it up. Am VM broadband only customer. When follow router's setup program, it verifies network adapter is enabled, but says network status check failed.
Trying to follow the booklet's instructions, I went to the online address to try to manually set up ... when I let it autodetect, it says to fill in static IP details, but I thought VM broadband was dynamic? No idea of any details anyway, static or dynamic, and searching google has confused me even more, reading threads of one configuration list of settings after another. Tried ipconfig /all, but black screen just flashes up and vanishes, so can't get MAC address, or any details, as was suggested as the other way to configure. Tried to grab a screenprint, but unable scroll, so couldn't get any details needed.
That's about the sum of what I understand re router terms, and really would appreciate advice.
Many thanks, Cat

Surfed a bit more and had forgotten supposed to leave everything switched off for few minutes at least, so old ip got rid of properly. Done that, and, despite setup thing saying same error, wifi's on great. No padlock showing up though, so would really like to ask advice re securing wifi.
Many thanks, Cat0 -
