Where to stop off on way home from Wales?

We are traveling back to Nottingham from north Wales tomorrow, on the way here our 3 year old was terribly travel sick so we need to break up the return journey. Anyone have any ideas of nice places to stop off for half hour or so? Thanks

I suppose it depends where you are travelling from but Chester would seem an obvious choice if it is is not too early in your journey.

  • Trentham if it's not too late.

    What's your route?

There's a little park somewhere nearby called 'The Derbyshire Dales'. If that might be of interest.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Whats your route ? and from how deep into North Wales . If its A55 M56 M6 I suppose your just looking for a park or open land to have a break. If its a few hours stop not just half a hour what about Trentham Gardens or Greenacres Park . I find kids get more sick in stop starts roads and less asleep on the motorway

  • Depending on your route back obviously, but I would recommend Shrewsbury.

Thanks everyone, we are travelling back from Ffestiniog, not sure which roads we came on as we just followed satnav but we came north from notts, through stoke, Nantwich and Wrexham. Trentham looks like its close to where we travel, could do with somewhere about an hour or so from Ffestiniog now, but somewhere en route, easy to find somewhere on the map, but obviously wouldn't know what was there!

Blimey no wonder your 3 yr old gets sick on those roads!!! Maybe take the A487 up to Caernarfon & then the A55 & M56......may be longer but a nice road & less bends!!!!!!

I hate driving on those roads & I'm local!!

Maybe you can stop off at Llandudno Junction (if its opnly to stretch your legs) or go into Llandudno itself x

And probably just as quick really. But if i was travelling from Ffestiniog i (i dont do car sick though) I would Bala-Whitchurch-Stoke and over from there and Ellesmere is a great place for a hours streach. OP is probably home now . Did you enjoy Ffestiniog . One of the best parts of the area are the drives around so ?? how was that. Found a great cafe called lakeside cafe next to the reservior outside Tanygrisau. good grub and great base for Walkers

On the way home now, just crossed over into England. We stopped at Bets y coed - which was only 15mins from where we stayed, was lovely and well worth a stop off, we then went to Llangollen which was great also - picked these as they had train station and dh and 3 year old love trains. Thanks for the suggestions guys
