Plenty of claims are reviewed in the claimant's favour, either by Social Fund reviewing officers or the Independent Review Service.

I have heard that if you apply towards the end of the financial year that you have less chance of a successful claim.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • I have had a decision overturned by a significant amount (£600). I wrote a polite letter with the reason why I disagreed with their decision. You should know the reason they cannot help you as this should be stated in their decision letter.

Also, depending on which items you were hoping to have financial help with there are charities that can also help. For example, I got a brand new washing machine from a charity, i think called glasspool, who my floating support worker contacted. It may be worth a search on https://www.turn2us.org.uk

Hope you find a way to get the items you need
