Just thought I would say that I have used Norton anti virus for the past 2 years and not had one problem with it I also use there firewall. I am on broadband and my PC runs fine.

That would probably be NAV 02 or 03? 04 and beyond had significant improvements and changes which rendered PC's slower than a 386 machine
I had NAV 2002 and it was fine - no great degradation in speed - but 05 is horrific. I've uninstalled it today and on the basis of the post by Lellie, downloaded Avast! which is, so far, very good and my PC is back to the speed it was before NAV05! Fantastic!!
And I got NAV02 bundled with my Dell PC and took a discounted upgrade from Amazon to NAV05 last year. I see Dell have stopped bundling it with new machines, choosing McAfee instead which doesn't slow machines down to a crawl...!
