What to do???
Hello,
I've been on phone contracts for about 15 years now and I'm just ending one now and wondering where to go?
I have an I phone 3gs which I've had for a 24 month contract (started at £35 per month and at the earliest opportunity I reduced to £30 then to £25 which I've been on for a while), and its in full working order and I plan on keeping it.
I'm now less worried as I used to be about my phone breaking as I've recently learnt the inner workings of I Phones (specifically 3gs) and if the worst comes to the worst and it stops working I can buy an ebay broken one and fix it.
Recently, I have been going through pretty much anything i spend money on and reducing it as much as possible, and as my phone contract has come to an end - its next on the list.... and I've started to realise how little I know about it!
It seems to be very complex with contracts / pay as you go / hybrids like simplicity / the orange animal things etc etc. I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer me advice, heres my situation;
1. I have a phone, its unlocked.
2. I don't really want to enter in to a long sim only contract.
3. Data is important, I use almost up to my (500mb) limit every month and want to continue doing so.
4 I dont use the phone very often (20 to 50 mins a month) and as a guess on average text about 10 to 20 times a day.
What can the folks on here suggest?
I'd also like to know - when pay as you go deals have say 100mins and 100mb data if you top up £10 per month - do you have the £10 credit or does that get used up with the deal? If you do get it - does it expire?
Sorry for the long message - I hope someone can help.
Tom

Have a look at:
http://giffgaff.com/goodybags/10pound-facebook-goodybag - PAYG (O2)
http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/simple.html - £8x6 or £8x1 - contracts with 6 or 1 month(s) minimum term (Vodafone); 30 days notice to cancel.
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/price-plans/pay-as-you-go/boosters/ - PAYG, 6 month internet booster costs £200 -
As mentioned by grumbler, giffgaff would be a good starting point as they have unlimited data on their goodybags (which start at £10 per month for 250 mins talktime and unlimited texts).
They seem to have had a few issues recently re their support but I think a lot has to do with their popularity and struggling to cope with demand. Once you are up and running I doubt you would need any support from them. There isn't a contract to get tied up in and if you want to move to someone else then you do just that!0 -
Tesco have £12.50 500mins 5000 text 1gb data, on 1 month rolling deal.0

I would definitely be looking at a 1 month rolling deal. Depending on your coverage, Three offers a good deal on data generally, otherwise the others mentioned above make sense.0

Thanks for all the help guys.
and the winner is....
Talkmobile - £8 on a rolling month contract -200mins, 300texts and 500mb data - and with £25.25 cashback on topcashback - bargin!0
