The other thing I find surprising about this is that any payments made from a Halifax Current Account to a Halifax Credit Card take a day or more to appear on the credit card account. I'd expect it to be virtually instant these days - especially as I can send money from Halifax to Barclays, a totally separate bank, and it arrives within minutes.
But it wouldn't show immediately on a Barcalycard account.

I had exactly the same question as Spaceboy, but I'm still confused about how to set up my credit card as a new recipient, because it asks for 'account number' (the space isn't long enough to enter the credit card number), and 'sort code', neither of which apply to a credit card, surely? My credit card doesn't have either on, anyway! Do I just enter my current account details, in which case where does the credit card number go?

I consider myself relatively intelligent, but I really don't understand how this is meant to be set up! Can someone just let me know what to fill in where please? I'd be eternally grateful!

    Thank you!

On the reverse of the first page of your statement at the bottom is a section "How to pay".

Go to set up new payment on your online banking.

In the payee section put your own name.

In the account number section put the Bank account number that is highligted in blue (8 digits) - in "How to pay" on the reverse of your statement.

In the sort code section, put the sort code that is highlighted in blue in "How to pay" on the reverse of your statement (6 digits).

In the reference field put your 16 digit card number which is on the front of your statement in the top right hand corner.

Then send a test payment of £1 to make sure all is okay. You need to wait 24 hours and then check your credit card online to see if the test payment arrived. If it did then pay off your card using the payment you set up above.

    Hope this helps.

I ring the hobos credit card and they can take a payment instantly from my current account yet it doesn't how for three working days, why? They are ok but you can tell they used to be a building society as some of there ways are a little antiquated!

Thanks so much - I do everything online, so I rarely look at my paper statements except to see how much the payment will be. The account number etc is nowhere on the online access or the card itself, hence my confusion. All good now though!
