On the subject of corned beef, does anyone know of one that is made in the UK? I like corned beef but refuse to buy it now on the principle of intensive cattle farming in South America.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Telling OH he can't eat corned beef because of intensive farming of cows in Argentina wouldn't go down too well0

Can you point us to some evidence of such farming methods, please?
On a related note, I recently spotted, in Asda, a brand of CB packed in France. Corned beef - from France?
The inside story behind that commercial development would be an interesting read!0 -
I too buy Sainsbobs but as I live alone a big tin is too much for me on its own but once opend I cut in half and freeze half, it freezes very well and half a tin will make me a sandwich or two, and maybe a corned beef hash, or sometimes I'll bung a bit into bubble and squeak to liven it up a bit.
Years ago where I worked in Colchester the chaps always asked for a 'typhoid roll' in the canteen as apparently there was a typhoid outbreak back in the late 1960s that was originally blamed on corned beef:)

Watch Food Inc and that will give an overview of the intensive cattle faming and methods used.
I'm not making some crusade and suggesting we all stop eating beef from intensive farming like this - it's not practal for everyone.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I wish no one had mentioned Corned Beef Hash, that's the good stuff!
If you are ever in brighton check out Billy's - the most awesome US style hashes ever!0 -
I buy the Aldi corned beef and use it to make a Caribbean Corned Beef dish my MIL taught me.
Fry chopped onion & garlic clove, when softened add a chopped tomato and half chopped pepper, fry for a couple more mins
Chop the corned beef and add to pan, mash with a fork and mix well, add some frozen peas.
Season and add Encona hot sauce (just a few drops this stuff is lethal!), cook until beef is piping hot.
Serve with rice and black eye peas. Makes a meal for 4 (or 3 if your feeding my other half) Makes a tin of corned beef go far, we had it on Monday night yum yum
