new puppy

Hi, My daughter has been lucky enough to get a beautiful new puppy, but the food the breeder was feeding the pup on has been discontinued.
Does anyone have any links of any feebies of puppy packs? :D
Treat other's how you like to be treated.

And now I have the joy of having my foster granddaughter becoming my real granddaughter. Can't ask for anything better

  • What has the breeder been feeding?

Really you want something as close to that as poss to avoid upset tums.

What food was the puppy on with the breeder? Maybe you can pick up a bag from somewhere that might still have stock and then gradually move your pup onto a new food that is more readily available?

Freebie bags tend to be only enough for one meal, and if you chop and change the pup's food it's going to have a very upset tum! I feed mine raw with a little Skinners mixed in, but it can be fed as an entire food if you don't want to feed raw. Plus it has the added bonus of no VAT!

I agree with this. If you can't get hold of the food the breeder fed then your best bet is to find something similar, or go for a good quality food and stick to it.
Did the breeder provide any of the original food? A decent breeder should want to aid the pup as much as possible so if they didn't, ask for a few day's worth. You could do day 1 as 100% of the old food, day two & three as 75%, day four & five as 50%, etc. - quicker than is ideal but better than a straight switch at least.

I'm not sure it's going to be possible to feed the puppy for ever for free! :D

Why not ask the breeder what they're going to use instead seeing as their usual choice has been discontinued? I assume the breeder will pick something similar (or perhaps already has and therefore has the benefit of finding out whether it's upset the tums of the other dogs he or she has).

    Rosie is a beautiful pup.

Before we had Barney we also had a rough collie dog who passed away at 14.

If you type 'free puppy food' into Google, lots of offers come up, but check with the breeder first.

When we first got Barney we received samples from a couple of companies, but as he's become older - he's 17 months old now - he's developed his own tastes. Cooked chicken is his favourite.

    Good luck with the pup.
