It'll surely be because the rate change applied about half half way through the fortnight for which the fortnightly payment is related to in this instance? (I understand the benefit is paid in arrears so your last payment may include a period at the end of march plus beginning of April).

If so then your next payment should be as advised by them.. £198.30.. and if it isn't then I would contact them.

Definitely works out at 1 week old rate and 1 week new rate.
Only worry if it happens next time.
  • Does anyone know what the ESA contribution rate is once assessment phase is over with? The only amounts mentioned on the ESA bit of direct gov and other places seems to be the ESA WRAG or support amount income ones not contributions one. Or is it the same as for WRAG one? Am just trying to work out tax liabilty for last year, so that I know what my code might be. There will be a small underpayment I know, but I like to plan and have it all worked out if I can.
  • I got exactly the same amount of ESA in my bank account on Tuesday

The max rates of income related and contribution based ESA I believe are the same. If you get into WRAG or Support Group and get the full amount then you will get basic rate (assessment rate) plus WRAG or Support Gp component. For income related you can get premiums added in addition.

  • So it should be £99.15 per week for this year and £94.25 for last year then per week. Thanks for hopefully confirming.
