Wireless printer offline

We don't use our printer that often, maybe every two or three days, but when we do need it, it's essential.
We choose wireless as we have a toddler with a fascination for leads and switches etc, so we can keep it out of her way.
Our printer is an HP Photosmart 5515 e - All - in - One series.
Internet is via BT Home Hub.
We use a laptop with Windows 7.
(We have another old laptop that we virtually never use, and it's not associated with this problem).
When I print, it comes up that the printer is offline. This happened last week, and we eventually switched the printer off and a few days later it worked. We unplugged the printer this morning to move it to a different room and now it won't work again.
It seems to be something to do with the IP address but I don't understand the instructions from googling of how to change it to a static.manual IP address.
Can anyone help please?

:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
