Interviewing for job in same trust

So not only do I have a job interview at a different hospital (local) but I now have an interview for a position in the same trust as I currently work but at a different hospital. This one is for band 3 whereas the other one is band 2 and I am currently band 2.

I know it's a long shot but has anyone here had a band 3 interview? The person spec is just like a band 2 one (job spec is slightly different) and I think all HCA's at this hospital are band 3.

Also anyone know about the requirement process for internal positions? I know they get a ref from my current ward manager but do they still need a second one or a new CRB etc. Will I be able to keep any annual leave booked & have the same amount of AL?

At the interview you will probably be asked if you have any questions. Ideal time to ask these.

See I wasn't sure if these were the right thing to ask in an interview.

I seem to recall someone I work with on my ward was allowed to start straight away as he had a current CRB and he came from the private sector caring industry so as far as that is concerned i expect that your CRB will transfer, especially if you stay in the same trust. Not aure about the references though - best ask that at interview.

Hi, I'm a qualified nurse and recently had an interview in the same trust for the next band up. I had to apply through NHS jobs and follow all the same procedures an outsider would have to do... 2 references, crb, english and maths assessment, interview with presentation... the joke is, that the same trust had just paid for me to attend a one year full time course, fully paid. (had to do the whole application..crb.. ref etc to get on the course too) They knew me and my skills and I STILL had to go through the application process! I'm applying for another same trust postion and have to go through the whole bloody thing again!!

    Good luck!

btw.. can you ask for interview training/prep? we get this.

Yes I applied through NHS jobs via the trust website. I don't mind going through the whole thing again I just think it's a waste of time and money.

Agreed. they have to pay for advertising and HR costs. On my intervew panel was two band 7s and a band 8 manager. They took the whole afternoon off to intervew just me! Meanwhile the rest of the teams are slogging their guts out, being one down!

So had my interview last Thursday and got a conditional offer that afternoon. The following day I got the letter via email for me to return with my acceptance.

All they need is a ref from my current ward manager. Wonder how long that will take?!

    Thanks.

Well I have been chasing it up and my ward manager hasn't received it or so she says. Have asked for them to send it again, I feel like just going down stairs to HR and picking it up lol. Also found out I got offered another job and the ref was sent to the now old ward manager on 23rd March, the new manager has only just found it and it appears that he opened and just left it!

Do keep chasing your manager for the reference and if she isn't forthcoming, go to her manager. (If you're leaving, it won't matter if you upset her!)

I lost out on a band 3 job that I really wanted because my line manager couldn't be bothered to reply to the reference request for over 10 days. I later heard that I would have got the job but they thought that as my manager didn't supply a reference, she must have thought that I was not a suitable candidate (in other words, a rubbish employee )

I spoke to my manager and she apologised, saying that she had completely forgot about it. I was really annoyed, she knew that I had gone for the job and she had encouraged me at the time. I left the trust completely after that and when I received an "exit interview" with HR, I told them why!:mad:

With regard to A/L, no matter what trust you work for, your leave entitlement will go with you. I've worked for over 5 years now in the NHS (29 days leave..yay!) in two different trusts during that time.
