Flash Download problems

I've been trying for ages to download the latest version of Flash player from the adobe site, it keeps telling me it's successfully installed, but every website I try that requires the flash player tells me I haven't got it installed and it won't play. Is there something simple I'm not doing? ( Very likely, I'm not a techy person) - any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Try uninstalling first from add/remove programs and then install from adobe."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thanks, but I've already done that, no joy!0

So you definitely removed flash player from your system and then installed from scratch? It's what I did when I had a problem. Not sure I know of any other suggestion. Which operating system do you have?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I just uninstalled the verion 9 and then tried to reinstall it again, to get the message that my current security controls prevent running Active X controls and as a result the page may not display properly - it doesn't display proplerly and won't let me download anything. What should I do to allow the controls to run ( and is it safe to allow them? ) I'm running Windows XP ( home version )0

Alas still not working, despite rebooting afterwards - I've tried both versions. Is there anything else I can do, it's driving me mad, more and more websites I can't see! ( I'm glad albertross gave the last link, at least I know it's not just me ! )0

Did you try uninstalling in control panel, before following the links?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Have now tried this several times, completely uninstalling the rebooting then intalling new version and then rebooting, still not getting anywhere. When I go to Control Panel ( Add & Remove programs ) it's there all right, Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X, 2.33 MB. ( There doesn't seem to be a program for Flash Player, there is a Shockwave player on the list though ). However when I go to start /all programs the Flash Player 9 Active X is not there ( neither is the Adobe Shockwave player, although that's on the add/ remove programs list too). (This may be completely irrelevant, I've no idea if it's significant or if that's what I should expect). I tried the repair option that came up on the add/remove programs for the Active X, that hasn't worked either. I've checked my Active X control settings and they are set according to the instructions on the Adobe site. I just can't think of anything else to try.0
