I grew up in Hanwell W7, next door. It is not a place I would choose to live in these days preferring Country living, but hey many do, so its horses for courses. I don't suppose with it not being exceptionally large there are not really bad or good areas. Would be best to avoid anything close to the A40 or along Greenford Road where the local dump is.
Bad points:
Traffic noise and pollution being close to the A40 in the North and the A312 North/South cut through in the West.
Proximity to LHR means aircraft noise (and lots of it) when the wind is in a certain direction.
House prices will be high as close to (but not actually in) the London postal codes. (Has an UB Uxbridge Code)
Traffic can be a nightmare at times.
Good Points:
Great Transport links to Central London,
Some nice parks and golf courses nearby next door in W7.
Being in London (almost) property values will hold up better than some other areas of the Country.
Diverse population mix across the borough and the multitude of eating out opportunities that brings.
Greenford lies in the London Borough of Ealing so it may be some searches on that direction will throw up some leads for you0
