Hi, I have a spare car battery that is 80ah rated, my charger says its only suitablefor charging batteries rated 20ah to 55ah. Can I use this charger to charge this battery?

Also I was thinking to buy a trickle charger for this battery but face the same problem, none are rated for batteries of 80 ah.

Anyone help?

Thanks

My CTEK is rated to 120Ah.

Is it a low Ah charger? Problem is it may not be able to fully charge the battery which sort of makes it useless.

if it doesnt charge an 80ah battery its usless for most batteries on diesel engines cars these days.

Maybe your looking too cheaply. Decent chargers should be OK.

Machine Mart, Clarke AC70, Even suitable for leisure batteries which can be 100A+
Only 4Ah though so a slow charger.

I have one of these also.. Rarely used these days though.

It'll charge fine, it'll just take approximately 20-24hrs to complete the charge from flat. Which isn't really practical and would probably cause customers to complain about the charger, hence the "suitable for" rating.

It's only really important if your charging low capacity motorcycle batteries or small seal lead acid (SLA's) batteries, as these tend to get very warm if charged too quickly.
