Selling car, tax running out

Just need some advice.
I'm selling my car but the tax runs out on 30 April. I can't re-tax it as i am on temp insurance for it which at the moment does not cover the end of the month as i hope to have sold it by then.
Ideally i would like to sell it taxed although at £30 a year it's not going to be a deal breaker i don't think but it is going to be inconvenient for the buyer.
Is there anything i can do to tax it now? And when i do sell it, do i give the new owner the tax letter i received or will the DVLA send them a new one when they register it?
Thanks in advance

You must have insurance that is valid on first day of new tax disc. There is no way round this other than declaring SORN and taking it off the road. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

So as long as that first day is covered (ie. 1 May) then i will be able to get it?:beer:0

Yes. As long as you buy it no later than the first!0

But don't forget, the car must be continuously insured if it's not on SORN.This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

I wouldn't like to try getting it on 2nd of May on that basis though, get it in advance. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
If you tax the car: When you sell it, you can either claim a refund from DVLA for the full months unused tax or just keep the tax on the car for the new owner.
You can tax the car after the 15th of the month.
If you sell your car before the tax is up the new owner will get a letter from DVLA about renewing the tax.
At £30 you may as well tax it as you're not loosing much; compared to how I'm in a similar situation only my tax will be £95 for 6 months.
Perhaps you could extend your insurance if need be closer to the time.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140
