BTW, when your car failed the free MOT, it automatically cancelled your old MOT (found this out in the course of a conversation with a mechanic).

My Focus failed on N/S bush just like the OPs. Cost £94 all-in for a new arm. Only £6 more than for just the bush, so worth the extra.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

    Member #1 of £1,000 challenge - £13.74/ £1000 (that's 1.374%)

    3-6 month EF £0/£3600 (that's 0 days worth)

The mechanic was telling you porkies.

An MOT lasts until it's expiry date regardless of whether the car fails another test before that. That's the whole point of the "extra" month you can get by having it tested early!

Hook line and sinker .....you were had.

Only thing to note is if it did fail on a dangerous item and you got pulled or in an accident etc it would be on record that you were aware of the fault/s.
Google gives you answers use it.........

He is talking rubbish. Your MOT is still valid however if you get stopped by VOSA, they inspect your car and find the faults it failed on in the MOT then you have no defence of not knowing about them and may get a subsequent fine.

A car is supposed to be at MOT pass standards whilst it is on the public highway.
