Quick question, if i have a non fault accident in a works van do i need to tell my insurance company for my own car when renewal time comes around.
Seems a bit unfair as even though i had a non fault accident on a works insurance policy that my own premium goes up according to the comparison sites!

If you are asked if you have had any accidents or claims in the past 5 years your answer would be yes.Like good food and drink?
Try Hotel Chocolat and Baileys.

Not totally true on the comparison sites putting up premiums for non fault accidents. Some companies do, the crap ones mostly, but many do not. Some companies, such as RAC, Quote me Happy etc. raise premiums even if you submit the same information a few minutes later. Why ? scare tactics like the airlines using yield management software based on people looking not actual sales.
If your name is on any form regarding the other accident, you have to tell.
Use dodgy details first though to avoid screwing up your home address and don't use your real registration (get one from Autotrader) until you know the deal is for you.0 -
If you don't and the Insurance company run a CUE check (Claims and Underwriting Exchange) and find you've not informed them they will want to know why and could decide to cancel the policy making it rather difficult for you to get Insurance in the future.
Whilst it may be unfair... you have to tell them =/0 -
There are two scenarios.
1) The disclosure does NOT affect any quotes - in which case you lose nothing by declaring it OR
2) The disclosure DOES affect quotations - in which case insurance companies are regarding it as a material fact.
Since non disclosure of material facts would potentially void your motor insurance policy and in fact is a criminal offence under the 1989 RTA, the answer to your question is pretty obvious.0 -
It doesn't always increase the premium. I've ran dummy quotes with and without a non-fault claim with LV, and it didn't change the premium at all.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

You have to disclose but I wouldn't worry. I've had a fault accident and no fault accident and both times at renewal by premium has gone down not up. So one non-fault accident is likely to be canceled out by your personal NCD which should not have been affected.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

If its gone through the company insurance its probably logged on the system and your insurer will know if/when they look.
And they will look if you need to make a claim. And then they can say sorry you failed to declare information you are no longer insured.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
