House move -where do I stand?
We are moving house next week, we are currently supplied by BG and the new property is with EON.
Where do I stand with suppliers, can I switch to a completely different supplier or do I need to move to EON for a short while, then move?
Looking to combine gas & electric.
Advice welcome.

You have to take EON as the supplier but you can switch on the first day you have responsibility for the bills.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Ok, but will EON try and lock me into 12 month contract?0

They may try to talk you into a contract but you dont have to accept.Just find new supplier and get meter readings and swop.0

Not if you sign up for the Standard tariff, which has no lock in. Once you have an account you can start a switch immediately, which will take 4-5 weeks.
Remember to take and submit meter readings on day one.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Remember the switch date is the date the supplier registers interest, the remaining 4-6 weeks is the time to do it hence it doesn't affect your date of actual change in the distributors registration database or who you pay.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

Hi Dave
Just to confirm what others have said, you can start to switch supplier the moment you take responsibility for the property.
We'll continue to supply the property until the move goes through so don't worry about being disconnected.
During your time with us, we'll charge you on our standard tariff unless you tell us otherwise. There's no cancellation fees/tie-ins on this tariff and you can change supplier at any time.
It would help keep charges accurate if you're able to let us have meter readings when you move in.
I know you've probably a stack of other things to think about at the time but, if you make a quick note on the day you move in, you can let us know full details later.
Just a quick heads up. We don't give discount on final bills when changing supplier. Hopefully, this won't affect you too much if you start the switch straightaway but something to be aware of.
Hope this helps Dave and good luck with the move.
